November Conversation Starters

I can't believe that it's already November. October just seemed to fly by.

Anyway, for my first November blog article I decided to do more conversation starters. I found another website with questions. Here are a few.

Question #1: Are you an optimist, a pessimist, or a realist?

Answer #1: I think of myself ultimately as more of an optimist.



I think I have moments of pessimism, or at least moments of disgust, and I can have moments of being a realist.



Question #2: What do you wish your brain was better at doing?

Answer #2: I wish I was better at learning another language. It's something I've tried multiple times but it's something I haven't been able to wrap my brain around (although I think I'm more than above average in my native language of English).

Question #3: What's something you do the old-fashioned, non-tech way?

Answer #3: Most of my reading is still done with paper books rather than electronically, at least when I'm reading a novel. I do read a lot of news articles (and blogs) electronically though.

Question #4: Coffee or tea?

Answer #4: Coffee!!!



Question #5: Would you rather play video games or go on an outdoor adventure?

Answer #5: This is an easy one for me. I would much rather go on an outdoor adventure.

Using Imagination to Accept Facts

I read an article recently titled “18 Really Toxic Things People’s Family Members Had the Nerve to do at Thanksgiving Dinner.” Basically a bunch of people contributed to the article and described insane things happening at their Thanksgiving dinner, ranging from simple etiquette blunders to family members having affairs. I browsed the comment section and saw that one person posted, “None of these are true. #3 is among the fakest thing I’ve ever read. If you believe any of this I honestly think I could convince you to eat a rock.” I on the other hand thought, “Yeah, I could see any one of these incidents happening.” I feel that sometimes people have a hard time believing things that are true because they have no real experience with what’s being described. Another Flag at Half Staff

I'm just planning on writing a really, really short blog tonight. I'm sure that by now you're aware of the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburg. I'm sure that there's a lot of things people are feeling right now. Sadness. Anger. Shock. The list could go on. While I was out on an errand for my day job I saw that the American flag was at half staff today. I then realized that this year, 2018, with all of the tragedies and shootings, that I've probably seen more American flags at half staff than I have ever seen in my entire life.
