Another Flag at Half Staff

Image
I'm just planning on writing a really, really short blog tonight. I'm sure that by now you're aware of the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburg. I'm sure that there's a lot of things people are feeling right now. Sadness. Anger. Shock. The list could go on. While I was out on an errand for my day job I saw that the American flag was at half staff today. I then realized that this year, 2018, with all of the tragedies and shootings, that I've probably seen more American flags at half staff than I have ever seen in my entire life.

More Conversation Starter Answers

Last week I wrote a post about answers to conversation starters. This week I decided to go back to the same website and answer some more questions. Enjoy! Question # 1 - Where did you go last weekend? What did you do? Answer # 1 - I typically work on the actual weekends, due to the fact that my current job is in retail. My last day off was this past Tuesday. Along with seeing some friends in Seattle I watched a documentary in the theater called Free Solo , about a man who climbs a mountain called El Captain in Yosemite without any rope. Oddly enough the movie reminded me of that one scene in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier , in which Captain Kirk is also climbing El Captain with no rope. Question # 2 - If you opened up a business, what kind of business would it be? Answer # 2 - The answer depends really on how big a business we're talking about. If it were a moderately sized business then perhaps an indie bookstore, or an arthouse movie theater. If we're tal

I try to write at least one blog article per week. My blog at this point doesn't really have much of a focus, or at least not one singular topic; typically I either write about past experiences or thoughts on films, books, or other pieces of pop culture I expose myself to. This week I decided to try something a little different. Oftentimes when I get together with my family we will answer conversation starter questions we find on our phones online. So for this blog article I will be answering a few conversation starter questions. They can all be found on  https://conversationstartersworld.com/250-conversation-starters/ . Question #1 - What was the last funny video you saw? Answer #1 - One of my favorite podcasts is Word Funk, which is basically just three friends discussing things and their take on them. In their latest episode they discuss the antics of Kanye West, Star Trek, James Bond, and more. Question # 2 - What was the last movie you watched? How was it?

Steve Jobs from the Perspective of his Daughter

In a previous post I wrote that I was in the middle of a lack of reading, not finding much to read that engaged me. Since then I've actually found a few great books that I liked a bunch. One of them was "The Penderwicks at Last," written by Jeanne Birdsall. It's the latest in a series of books about a family known as a family known as the Penderwicks, with this including a wedding between a couple of the main characters. It's a pretty engaging series and within the five books that have been written so far since 2005, fifteen years have gone by for the characters; Batty, one of the characters, was originally four in the first book, and in the latest novel is nineteen and in college. The book that I got really involved in was "Small Fry," written by Lisa Brennan-Jobs . It's a memoir written by the daughter of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. I've read a fair amount about Steve Jobs and have seen films about his life, including the made-for-TV
